Principal Technical Program Manager, Ad Tech, Wondery

IT, Operations
Culver City, CA, USA
Posted on Tuesday, June 13, 2023

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Technical Program Manager with experience in ad tech and a strong track record of driving cross-organizational programs to join our team. In this role, you will own Wondery’s ad tech priorities and roadmap, and work closely with technical, product, and business leaders within Wondery and across Amazon to design and implement new capabilities that ensure we not only meet the needs of our podcast advertising business today, but also scale our capabilities for continued rapid growth. You will be a senior member of the Wondery Product, Data & Tech team, reporting to the head of the team.

This role functions as a day-to-day liaison between Wondery’s internal teams, including Ad Sales/Ops, Finance, and Analytics, and peer teams in Amazon Ads, Alexa, ART19, and other Amazon organizations to deliver high impact new capabilities and backend system integrations with significant complexity. You will lead, impact and influence cross-functional teams and own end to end execution from inception to delivery. You will succeed in these endeavors by combining your technical experience with your ability to listen to, learn from, and communicate with a diverse group of collaborators.

Our ideal candidate is collaborative, highly technical, proactive, has strong attention to detail, makes data-driven decisions, and can build rapport and trust with all stakeholders in a matrixed organization. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmaps. As a passionate technical program leader, you anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. You have an ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then drive delivery of them in a timely manner. Experience in managing large ad tech implementation and integration programs is highly desirable.

Key job responsibilities
* Lead high-visibility, cross-team initiatives including scoping, requirement gathering, technical design, implementation, and launch phases. This includes evaluating and recommending technical solutions to meet customer requirements, ensuring long-term scalability, and meeting project timelines.
* Represent Wondery’s priorities and vision with Product & Engineering teams in other departments, including Amazon Advertising and ART19 (Amazon’s provider of cutting edge tools for hosting, ad serving, audience targeting and measurement).
* Clarify, prioritize and drive project commitments for complex projects as well as establish and maintain clear chains of accountability across multiple teams.
* Communicate effectively (both verbal and written) and present to senior leadership.
* Be a technical problem solver on the team, articulating program goals, desired outcomes, risks/issues, mitigating planning and at times implementing innovative solutions to project roadblocks.
* Reduce cross-organizational exposure to failure modes (e.g. requirements not sufficiently understood/documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, inadequate system design, insufficient testing/gaps, etc.).
* Demonstrate strong program management, organizational, and leadership skills.
* Provide clear and timely reporting of key performance metrics across internal & external stakeholders.
