Senior Director, Business Development at Pony

Pony.ai is experiencing strong demand for our technology in both the US and China markets. We are looking to grow our team with a Senior Director of Business Development to be based in our Bay Area HQ. This person will manage strategy, planning, and execution for key partner engagement and contribute to strategic initiatives across Business Development and Pony.ai. In addition, the Senior Director of Business Development will help to define Pony.ai’s go-to-market strategy across various self-driving technology use-cases. The role reports to the CEO.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and lead a portfolio of partners, ranging from tech solutions companies to OEM/Tier 1 partners
  • Partner with our leadership team to identify, recruit, and manage relationships with OEM’s and ecosystem partners in the autonomous vehicle industry
  • Refine and execute a go-to-market and partnerships strategy across autonomous ride-hailing, logistics, and other business lines; define the company’s business and commercialization roadmap
  • Work closely and efficiently with cross-functional leaders in the Engineering and Product teams
  • Be an ambassador for business development within the company, helping educate senior leadership and project teams on agreement structures, opportunities, and constraints
  • Support a team of business development and partnerships managers in generating business leads and negotiating deals
  • Travel of or up to 25%

Requirements

You Might Be a Good Fit if You Have:

  • Recent and significant (10-12+ years) experience in business partnerships and strategy in the technology or transportation space
  • Proven track record working well in a team environment and managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with proven ability to influence across management levels, functions, and organizations
  • Exceptional capability to build a variety of cross-functional and external relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication of technical and business concepts; ability to concisely communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • A strong understanding of the autonomous driving and traditional automotive industries
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work streams based on the company’s top objectives
  • Comfortable interpreting and managing partnerships contracts
  • BA/BS in business or other related disciplines, or other related fields, MBA is a plus
